Rema 1000 Denmark fined for providing incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information

Rema 1000 Denmark has been fined 40,000 kroner for submitting incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information to the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority. This occurred in the spring of 2023 when the company notified a merger in which Rema 1000 was set to acquire parts of Aldi Denmark.

Rema 1000 Denmark has agreed to pay a fine of DKK 40,000 for providing incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information when notifying a merger between Rema 1000 and parts of Aldi Denmark in the spring of 2023.

Specifically, the notification lacked information about a store project in Brøndby, for which Rema 1000 had obtained a building permit a week earlier. However, the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority has assessed that the missing information about the store project in Brøndby did not affect the outcome of the merger case.

The fine has been determined based on the calculation principles applicable at the time of the violation.
The Danish Competition Council approved the merger between Rema 1000 and parts of Aldi Denmark on August 30, 2023, after Rema 1000 committed to selling stores in Bjerringbro, Hadsund, and Væggerløse.
