Fine of DKK 1,800,000 for resale price maintenance on children’s products

The undertaking Konges Sløjd has accepted to pay a fine of DKK 1,800,000 for infringing the prohibition in the Danish Competition Act on resale price maintenance. A member of the management has accepted to pay a fine of DKK 100,000.

Konges Sløjd ApS – a company that produces clothes, furniture and other products for children - has accepted to pay a fine of DKK 1,800,000 for infringing the prohibition on resale price maintenance. At the same time, a member of the management has accepted to pay a personal fine of DKK 100,000 for the infringement.

The unlawful behaviour took place in the period from the end of 2018 to the beginning of 2020, when Konges Sløjd demanded a dealer to follow the recommended resale price without giving discounts.

The case started in 2020, when the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority was approached with documentation that indicated an infringement of the Danish Competition Act. After a brief investigation, the Competition Council decided to hand over the case to the State Prosecutor for Serious Economic and International Crime (SØIK). SØIK investigated the case and initiated the criminal proceedings.
