Freight transport organization fined by the City Court in Copenhagen for exchanging illegal information with its members
On December 15, 2012, the Danish City Court in Copenhagen passed sentence upon a Danish freight transport association, Dansk Transport og Logistik (DTL) for infringing section 6 of the Danish Competition Act by publishing a calculation program for freight transport by road with specific forecast of cost development. Accordingly the City Court fined DTL DKK 400.000 (€ 55.000).
The court found that the exchange of information by DTL had as its object to restrict competition by coordinating the conduct of the members and thereby possibly unify member's prices.
In fixing the fine the court took among other things into account the gravity of the infringement and the fact that DTL is a professional organisation with many members.
