The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority (DCCA) is investigating the Danish Agriculture and Food Council’s planned reorganization of the DanBred system. The DCCA has initiated its investigations i.a. after having received complaints from several market players.
The Danish Agriculture and Food Council (in Danish “Landbrug & Fødevarer”) has announced that the organization is planning to change the current business structure of the Danish pig breeding system DanBred (in Danish “DanAvl”). This announcement has resulted in complaints to the DCCA from several market players regarding possible negative effects on competition.
On these grounds the DCCA is investigating the circumstances of the planned reorganization. The DCCA preliminarily finds that the case is complicated and that the planned reorganization of the DanBred system potentially can have serious effects on competition.
The Danish Agriculture and Food Council has informed the DCCA that it has postponed the implementation of the new DanBred system for an unlimited period.
The DCCA has informed The Danish Competition Council about its current investigations during a meeting on 29 June 2016.
The DCCA encourages all market players in the DanBred system, who have relevant information about the planned reorganization of the Dan-Bred system to contact the DCCA.
If you have relevant information please contact the DCCA’s unit for Food, Agriculture, Industry and Retail.
