Price fixing between 3 Danish driving schools

16. september 2013

On September 11, 2013, the Danish City Court in Næstved passed sentence upon the owner of a driving school for infringing section 6 of the Danish Competition Act by fixing prices on driving lessons in corporation with the owners of two other driving schools.

The owners of the two other driving schools entered into a settlement with the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority for infringing section 6 of the Danish Competition Act during fall 2012.

However, the owner of the third driving school would not enter into a settlement thus this case was brought to court, where the owner of the third driving school was sentenced.

The owners of all three driving schools were each fined DKK 25.000 (€ 3.333).

The price fixing agreement was announced in a local Danish newspaper during 6 weeks in 2011.

The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority took up the case on the basis of a tip with a reference to the advertisement in the newspaper.
