Today, the Danish Competition Council has approved the acquisition of DLA Agro a.m.b.a. by Danish Agro a.m.b.a. DLA handles the procurement of feed ingredients, fertilizer and pesticides etc. for a range of suppliers of agricultural inputs. The approval is conditional on four commitments made by Danish Agro.
Director General of the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority, Agnete Gersing, states:
“The commitments of Danish Agro make it possible for other suppliers of agricultural inputs to purchase feed ingredients etc. on the same conditions as Danish Agro. The commitments also prevent Danish Agro from getting access to confidential information about the competitors’ purchases.”
Danish Agro is primarily active on the markets for production and sale of feeding stuff to pigs, cattle and poultry as well as sale of feed ingredients, fertilizer etc. to farmers.
DLA Agro is a procurement company, which serves a range of Danish and North European suppliers of agricultural inputs, including Danish Agro.
Danish Agro has made four commitments, which are binding. The Competition Council has approved the merger conditional on the four commitments. The Competition Council assesses that the commitments accommodate the competition concerns raised by the merger.
The commitments make it possible for other suppliers of agricultural inputs to purchase feed ingredients, fertilizer and pesticides on the same conditions as Danish Agro. Additionally, the commitments prevent Danish Agro from getting access to confidential information about competitors’ purchases.
