Denmark: The Association for Auto Repair Shops in Denmark (CAD) has illegally urged its members to boycott Autobutler

26. marts 2014

The Danish Competition Council has decided that the Association for Auto Repair Shops in Denmark (CAD) has violated the Competition Act by urging its member to boycott Autobutler’s internet portal, www.autobutler.dk, which provides an easy-to-use online interface that allows quick access to offers on car repairs, maintenance etc. The Danish Competition Council orders CAD to abstain from this conduct immediately.

CAD has urged its member to boycott Autobutler’s internet portal, www.autobutler.dk, in order to reduce the price competition and the transparency provided by the portal. Consequently, CAD’s conduct of business has violated the prohibition on anti-competitive agreements.

The Danish Competition Council orders CAD to abstain from any future agreements, decisions or concerted practices with the same or similar object or effect. In addition hereto, CAD must notify its members of the decision made by the Danish Competition Council.

Autobutler is the largest internet portal offering car-owners a free of charge online interface which allows quick access to offers on car repairs and maintenance that the car-owners can compare in order to find the best price.

CAD is the largest trade organization for auto repair shops in Denmark and represent approximately one third of all auto repair shops in Denmark. In 2011 car repairs and maintenance amounted to DKK 12 billion in Denmark.
