The Danish Competition Council improves the terms of competition on the market for round wood
25. november 2009
The Danish Competition Council has concluded commitments with members of the Danish Forrest Association to improve the terms of competition on the market for round wood.
The Danish Competition Council has had serious concerns about the exchange of information between the participants of a trade committee hosted by the Danish Forrest Association.
The trade committee consists of suppliers of round wood including private forest owners, companies and trade associations who trades wood. The participants have met to exchange information on among other things current and expected prices. The exchange of information has taken place from 2002 to 2007.
The participants of the trade committee have with the commitments accepted a number of conditions that affect their access to exchange information. The commitments imply among other things that the members undertake:
not to discuss prices, discounts or other essential parameters of competition with each other or with competitors, and
not to discuss expectations for the development on the market for round wood – including prices, supply and demand – with each other or with competitors.
